CambridgEshire. Houghton. Waterclose  Meadows.

Waterclose Meadows, Houghton Mill is a delightful site set amongst beautiful cherry blossom trees on the banks of the River Ouse, complete with a working watermill.   The camp site has good toilet facilities and there is the Mill Cafe, open 9 - 5, at the entrance to the site.

There are no hard standing pitches at the site, but all 53 grass pitches do have electric hook-up and are generous in the space given to each pitch. There is a motorhome service point.

Security at the campsite is, however, poor and is exposed to unauthorised people wandering around as a number of public footpaths run beside it. As a National Trust property it is understandable that public access is a criteria but with so much expensive equipment on site security should ensure only those sing the site have access to it. In the three days we were there cars (nothing to do with the site) were driving around in the middle of the night which is not surprising since there are no barriers at the entrance!

That said, the location is stunning and is a dog walkers paradise!

Norfolk. Thetford. Puddledock Farm

If you like walking in woods or fishing then this campsite is for you as Thetford Forest is just thorough a gate in the fence!  The tree-lined park is spacious and well laid out with good toilet and shower facilities and easy road access.  Whilst there is a children's play there is no on site restaurant and shop facilities are limited.

There is a motorhome service point.

Norfolk. West Runton. West Runton Campsite

A spacious campsite set in a secluded location close to the quaint seaside village with which it shares its name. Trees surround this beautifully maintained site. Facilities include excellent roomy showers, a parent and child room, laundry and washing up area and a dog walk.  There is no restaurant on site.

The village of West Runton is a very pleasant 20 minute walk away, with good pubs and restaurants, camping shop, and good local bus services.  The beach is another 10 minute walk further on - ideal for keeping fit!

There is a motorhome service point.  Access to the site is down a long narrow lane with overhanging branches - that said access proved easy in the event.
